Strap in for a Monday marathon of experimental sound, free improvisation, and reflections on listening as Subcity presents renowned creator David Toop's visit to Glasgow University for this year's Cramb Music Residency. Featuring Cramb Concert performances by Una McGlone and Sebastian Lexer, Ute Kanngiesser, and David Toop and Luke Fowler; sections of an exclusive Subcity interview; and documentation of the Open Table session, this promises to be a broadcasting special.
Reframed as a ‘long table’ discussion and modelled on Lois Weaver’s engagement practices, the Open Table features a performance of 'Table Manners' by Toop and Iain Findlay-Walsh before opening up into a wide-ranging discussion on listening with a field recording taken from the table itself. Join Subcity as we dig through themes of improvisation, creativity and sonic composting, all presented with a topsoil of Toop!
Special thanks to the University, David Toop, and all artists and performers involved who gave their permission and support for these recordings to be made available on Subcity.org14:00 - 18:30
