There's more of an emphasis on hardcore this week, from the beginning of its evolution/mutation in the eighties (Embrace) to its postmodern forms in the present (Converge, Loma Prieta). The other half of this episode is more pop-orientated, though the catchiest songs here also have a dark undercurrent (Menomena, Wild Nothing). Elsewhere, there's another stellar cut from abstract black metal group Bosse-de-Nage's recently released third record, simply titled "III", and some nice lo-fi emo from Teen Suicide.
