When Dave Box had a party for a significant birthday booked two Chicago soul stars Jackie Ross and Syl Johnson to perform.

No surprise to those that know Dave or to listeners of Soulful Allsorts on Subcity. Dave makes an annual visit to Scotland with a couple of boxes of records and brain full of knowledge on the Chicago Soul scene.

Dave has been visiting the Windy City since a young man but rather than just hit the record stores he sought out artists, writers and producers associated with Chicago’s soul sounds.

He has been a consultant for several soul compilations including the recent four cd six lp box set on Syl Johnson issued by The Numero Group.

Dave’s visits are always a treat for Fraser Dunn and Felonious and the Soulful Allsorts audience. He brings a great selection of records every time and he always has a story to tell about them. Catch him on Subcity live at 2:00pm and later on Listen Again.
