Lively, latin, and (largely) authentic.
Music, Please! can be a bit of a worthy listen at times. Too much theory and postulating, difficult listening and challenging formats.
Today however, everything will swing along on the breeziest and easiest of vibes. A whole hour dedicated to sweet bossa nova, samba jazz and groovy latinesque light pop.
Taking our cues from the deepest views of easy listening, today's show mixes up the authentic Brazilian and south american stylings of organist Water Wanderly, US easy icons Sergio Mendes, the Cuban king of Mambo Perez Prado with slightly less authentic faux composers like Chaquito & His Orchestra (actually UK lounge and library composer John Gregory), UK jazz band leader George Shearing, US folk singer Nancy Ames (who had a natty side-line repertoire of Latin interpretations) and margin bin vocal easy kings The Sandpipers, often found with the odd Italian or Spanish sung tunes in their set-lists (and here singing the beautiful Baden Powell co-penned música popular brasileira "Let Go").
This is a perfect soundtrack, for a perfectly sun-kissed afternoon.
