This week's Journey is a return to one of my favourite places - the 1960s.
After last week's 21st century show, I am relapsing in spectacular fashion, with a selection of psychedelia and other freaky beats. I'll be playing the likes of Buffalo Springfield, The Attack, The Zombies, Fairport Convention and Thor's Hammer, amongst others.
The Weird But Wonderful vote is between a song that was apparently written in all seriousness and one that had it's tongue firmly in it's cheek from conception:
1. Traffic - Hole In My Shoe http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=aaguQLgjbMo
Featuring a young Stevie Winwood, this song is forever tied to Neil from the Young Ones as far as I am concerned. Oh, and they followed this one up with 'Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush' - I mean, come on!
2. Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band - I'm The Urban Spaceman http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=hj86_2tAtdU
Written and sung by Neill Innes (along with the rest of the band obv.), I first heard this one performed as part of the 'Mony Python Live At The Hollywood Bowl' film when I was too young to have any clue what it was supposed to be about. I'm still not that sure now...
