Journeys

Hey there folks,
This week's show is the last for a while.
Subcity is taking a break until 11th January 2009 (I'm finishing up a week early due to a family 'do').
So you best tune in this Sunday 2-3 PM for a long-lasting fix of unseasonal Latin American crackers. They'll warm yer cockles - even if you live in the same cold Northern climes as me.
I'll be playing sounds from Brazil, Mexico, Cuba and maybe more. Artists will include Mongo Santamaria, Tito Puente, Jorge Ben, Gilberto Gil, Jose Felicianos, Santana and more.
The Weird But Wonderful vote is between a couple of songs by European acts that have Latin American titles (bit weak, I know, but it's kind of a link):
1. Babe Ruth - The Mexican http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=9kb4CP9lhhk
A great 1976, spaghetti-western style rock tune from a band from Hatfield, Herts, England. What could be better or more appropriate?
2. The Gibson Brothers - Cuba http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=8DmK7zuN7z0
A slab of 1978 French (via Martinique) disco-funk. Nice.
To decide which one plays the show out, get in touch during the live broadcast: [email protected] or text 'subcity' then your message to 07766 40 41 42.
