Beats of all Nations
So ‘Beats Of All Nations’ is back after an unexpected interruption to transmission but happy to be back on air.
I’ve been mulling over this episode for a while, I had this idea of trying to invoke the emotions and feelings of subterranean spaces and underpasses.
What are subterranean spaces? I felt these could be divided into natural and manmade environments and in this episode decided to consider manmade urban spaces.
These could include, transport networks, housing, basements, clubs, walkways, underpasses, laboratories, vaults, military installations, sewers and who knows, maybe even the cities of the future as imagined in Milo Hastings’ ‘City of Endless Night’
The feeling invoked by these spaces will depend on the person, their sex & age and the time of day amongst many other factors.
For me I associate these spaces with retreats, escapes, places of wonderment, subversion and depravity even which can take you to dark or enlightened spaces. Certainly there are spaces which can exist within other spaces, mentally or physically either conjured by shadows of light or by your mind
For me, there is always an edge and an uncertainty brought about by the unknown and confinement of subterranean spaces combined with a nervous excitement as to where they may lead you.21:00 - 22:00
