Beats of all Nations
This weeks episode is all about music newly discovered and recently rediscovered.
A record falling into the former category is by Australian outfit No Zu and is called Mystic C and features on there wonderful EP of mutant dance music released earlier this year on Home Loan Records. Another newly discovered record for me was released in 2014 on Second Circle, it's called Wu Du Wu and is by Montezumas Rache. It's impossible to categorise but for me is most reminiscent of the percussive Krautrock of Can.
A record falling into the later category is Blazer by Project Sandro, a record I pulled out whilst rifling through by collection and one I'd not listened to in a number of year's but which brought a lot of happy memories rushing back as soon as I put it on. There can surely be no better feeling than being transported in a musical time machine to the place you first heard a piece of music you love. Shivers down your spine.
The one record that I'll be playing that falls into neither of these categories is Larry Heard's 'What About This Love', my favourite house record of all time, an ever present but not often played track of spine tingling and uplifting simplicity that gets me up dancing every time.
I hope you enjoy tonight's selection and if you do please share the link.21:00 - 22:00
