back in your arms - soon

As you'll be aware Subcity has shifted itself off to it's summer home by the swimming pool and garden. While the studio is being primed into a delightful enough hovel for your genial host to present to you, I'm building up a little show for your pleasure.

I've been thinking about music. Music as a form, as a concept in our lives. Maybe I'm influenced by the wonderful Phonogram comic which reignited my love for what rhythm and sonic shifts can do to our hearts and heads. As can be easily guessed I boiled down my thoughts to this:

Music is Illusion.

The art of great music is to take us to the place it paints or the place we paint it into. From Pulp's song 'David's Last Summer' taking us to a never visited stream on the suburbs of Sheffield in the early 80's to the feeling of near universally appreciated beautiful agony of wanting to show that new person how much you want them in Gorky's Zygotic Mynci 'Patio Song', it creates the scene, helping you to move in or on from what had came before those 3 minutes of escape..

So what does this have to do with This is Vanity? Well, the May 2nd show will not be the usual show. It in fact will be set within a story, a story of what music has and can do to one person.
