The Funky Cuts // 1300-1400 28.05.11

straight off the decks at the flying duck

The Flying Duck is at the corner of Renfield Street just up from The Atholl Arms and down from The Herald office or so I thought when I turned up last Saturday night. But no, Ishould have round the corner at the Kitchen Bar in Renfield Court. Down the stairs into a quirky lounge obviously part of the Flying Duck but a much more cosy lay out. No obvious dance floor but there never is with The Soul Cellar run by Stephen Scanlon and Trevor Bond. A decent sound system and a pair of Technics and a Mackie mixer.

The sixty minutes on today's Funky cuts is an extract from the two sets I played. I hope to edit Stephen's for the last Funky cuts. You'll hear an hour of mostly up tempo Funky soul.

The next Soul Cellar is in The Kitchen Bar of The Flying Duck in Renfield Court from eight. Entry before eleven is free and it's six pounds after midnight which gives you entry to Singles night in the main club.
