summer begins...

Synth // 23.05.12 // Summer Sun: Dominic Martin in the mix...

So it's the final episode of Synth on Subcity tonight before broadcast ceases for the summer, and with the sun finally making a long overdue appearance we've got nothing but straight flavour to hit you with. We'll be kicking this off with some exceptional new music from the likes of Esa & Mervin Granger, Mirrors and This Is I before jumping head-first into a specially extended mix by Dominic Martin.

Having been a main fixture on the Glasgow scene for a number of years, Dominic has made a name for himself as one of the city's most prolific producers, recently releasing a benchmark album entitled 'A Journey In Deep House' on Lost My Dog. Specialising in jacking Chicago House with a deep-burning groove, Dominic has caught the attention of such luminaries as Roger Sanchez and Lee Curtiss, finding favour with his regular remixes and outstanding original work. Expect his mix to round off this year's broadcast in outstanding style..

hyperbolic heat

Synth // 25.04.12 // Illyus in the mix...

So we're back tonight for the penultimate episode of Synth before broadcast terminates for the summer and what a show we have lined up! Taking to the decks this week we have 'hot-to-touch' up and comer, Illyus who has been bubbling under the radar for some time now. Recently claiming our Local Hero Award for forthcoming single 'The Rescue' as well as releasing on Southern Fried and collaborating with Dominic Martin, Illyus is very much a name to keep an eye on...

Battling it out for our Local Hero Award will be three sonically charged newcomers in the form of Grobbie, Arm Wtchs Fngrs and Cur$es - all three grabbing our attention over the last year or so and straddling that grey area of hyper-bass and Garage.

Finally, new music and mixes will come from the likes of Hudson Mohawke, Mirrors, HaHaHa Vs Raksha and This Is I. Prepare...

sunshine grooves and maxxi flavours...

Synth // 28.03.12 // Mirrors in the mix...

Synth returns to Subcity Radio tonight and we couldn't be more excited about it. Whether it's the unseasonal warmth or the fact we've been sipping on MD all day (just because we have to work inside doesn't mean we can't get involved), it's always an incredible feeling bringing together some of our favourite tunes and tonight is no different.

Kicking things off, we have sunshine flavours from Mount Heart Attack's MermaidS as well as Mervin Granger and Rebecca Vasmant. You can also expect exclusive cuts from Ovr Kill and Illyus before our guest mix from man of the moment, Mirrors. Bursting out the gate and into 2012 like a raging bull, Chris McFarlane has been making some serious noise and people have taken notice - expect 20 minutes of big basslines and mad-real energy from our first Local Hero of the New Year.

Speaking of Local Heroes, we'll also be handing out the prestigious title to either Julius Funkhouser for his remix on Love Bites, the first release from High Sheen by Mia Dora, HaHaHa & Raksha or a big, fun mix from Thrust Club on Silicone Soul. Heavy bounce.

back by dope demand...

Synth // 29.02.12 // Tim Narloch in the mix...

So you may have noticed a severe lack of broadcasting from Synth over the last few weeks or so. Let us assure you that we've not abandoned the show, merely made it monthly so we can focus more energy and time towards it. Tonight we return with all our usual features and a whole stack of amazing new records to play (and when we say records, we mean high quality mp3s of course).

To kick off the new schedule, mega-hype merchant, Tim Narloch will be providing a very special guest mix in which he get's deep and bassy for your aural gratification. We've been seriously impressed by this guy over the last few months so we definitely suggest locking in. As always, music will be strictly Glasgow based with new tunes and mixes from Mirrors, Milton Jackson, Dominic Martin and Rebecca Vasmant.

Finally, three outstanding producers will be battling it out for our all-important Local Hero award with Yutani ft Zayn, Grobbie and Ovr Kill in this week's running. The countdown is on...

no show tonight (again)

Unfortunately we're going to have to miss another show tonight on Subcity due to reasons beyond our control. We're aiming towards getting back in the studio next week and can assure you there is a good reason for our absence in the meantime. As always you can find solace in the many back episodes stored in the Subcity may find the early shows particularly amusing!
