yaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy, we're back!!!!!!!!!!

She Said // 15.05.10

So taking full advantage of Allan's absence up the mounbtains, Derek launches into what we hope will be the first of many collaborations between She Said and Glasgow's finest toilet, sorry venue, the 13th Note. More to the point, Sandra (queen of the Note's back room and promotional activity) joins the second half of the show in a failed attempt to bring sanity to the proceedings. You have been warned!!

fancy a good old grope?!

She Said // 01.05.10

Can you hear me now? Is this thing on? This could have been the end of radio, Said Said and indeed Subcity unless the team's intention to sedate this week's guests went to plan!

Once upon a time there were 2 Glasgow bands, Weenliz and Grozny Some people suggested they were d***s but this was not always true. Then a number of them bonded to form a strange new creature called Gropetown. Wisely, they chose a special female person to lift the gloomy maleness. Some people say they (the blokes) are still d***s but this is not always true.

This week on She Said they picked the tunes and talked pish.

See what you think.

back in business with alan bissett!!!

She Said // 24.04.10

So after 3 weeks of tortured absence, the mighty She Said team returned to caress you aurally once more. And whit a show it turned out to be as acclaimed author, playwright, performer and music fan of frankly unimaginable taste, Alan Bissett, joined us with his impressively scary new haircut for some memorable tunes and chatter.

With only the slightest amount of suggestive nudging, Alan spoiled us with tales of Falkirk in ye olden days, his recent transformation to a one man woman and forthcoming delights on the Byres Road. Oh aye, and there's some stuff about books as well!

And yes, that is the Corries popping up on a truly unique playlist - when will we see yer likes again?!

Enjoy

we're no awa' tae bide awa'.....

She Said // 03.04.10

....or something. So as Subcity relocates to new premises, the She Said team huddle together in a foetal like state plotting and scheming for a glorious return to the airwaves on 10 April.

You better believe it.

rememember remember is back in town.....

She Said // 27.03.10

Once more Graeme Ronald joined his boyhood heroes on She Said for some sweaty, entertaining and musically eclectic silliness. We obliged him to discuss some recent gigging experiences and future recordings, some of which were aired exclusively on the show.

There were erudite musings, extraordinarily informed cultural insights and a good time was had all round.

Brace yerselves

gentle, tuneful, makeshift but lovingly unkempt...

She Said // 13.03.10

So when we paused for a moment's reflection to think how best to describe our selections for tonight's amazing show, these were the words that graced our tongues. Not once did the words erotic, sensual or arousing come to mind yet inevitably and poetically all these sensations truly did fill the room and meander over the airwaves.

I guess you would have expected no less.

Yes indeed.

mogwai action on subcity....

She Said // 06.03.10

And so it came to pass the She Said team once again strode manfully where others fear to tread with an exclusive Mogwai event on Subcity. More precisely, this week's show featured the delightful presence of Stuart Braithwaite and Martin Bulloch and a beguiling mix of tunes and chatter.

And so we were given the low-down on the new film Burning, progress with current rehearsals, how Errors might just make the guys their fortune, Martin’s affairs of the heart and the potential for Mogwai incorporating bagpipes into a recording!

And nobody mentioned football once!

deathpodal could genuinely brighten your day....

She Said // 20.02.10

Okay so here's the script.

Glasgow's newest independent label, Electropapknit Records, are about to celebrate their first release. The debut ep from Deathpodal is titled Exu_Wow and was recorded across Scotland featuring a variety of musicians including members of Copy Haho and PVH.

We here at She Said truly believe the view that Deathpodal bring together "post punk, DIY recording techniques, warm undulating melodies and a cacophony of instrumentation". Tonight, Alastair (the focal point of the collective) and Gav (collaborator and old friend of the show) joined us to preview the ep and chat in the loving sensual manner you’ve come to expect by now.

Listen in, check out the links and tell us what you think.

Whilst we're at it, this is your last chance to win 2 Fuck Buttons tickets for the show at the Arches on 24 April. Just message the show's address above with the name of the first Fuck Buttons album. One lucky person will have their name drawn from the hat live on air on the show on 27 February. Cheers to Grainne at Synergy Concerts for the tickets.

Not only do you get to share this arousing listening experience, Grainne has kindly offered 2 Fuck Buttons tickets for the show at the Arches in Glasgow on 24 April. She Said // 16.01.10

And so the She Said team emerged from the frozen wastelands unscathed, brushing aside musical mediocrity to embrace all that is noisy and right in the world. Tonight, the requests were flowing thick and fast inspiring both musical treats and an impromptu outburst of poetic creativity!

good citizenship for beginners.....

She Said // 05.12.09

Once upon a time in Glasgow there were some really nice guys who got on quite well and decided to form a band. In this band there were guitars and drums and noisiness and shouting, quite a lot of shouting. It was decided this band would be called Citizens. Some observers described them as post-hardcore though She Said generally avoids such tempting labels.

Citizens have mounted a long-standing campaign to appear on She Said with letters, e-mails, endless drinks and offers of seemingly improbable sexual favours. Eventually our meagre resistance was worn down so today, ladies and gentleman of She Said land, we bring you the majesty that is Citizens.

Wayhaay!!

x

Posted at 13:48, 5th December 2009

previously married women are coming for you!!

She Said // 28.11.09

Rest easy people in She Said land, normal business resumed tonight with a bang or should that be a noise as Derek and Allan combined energies and bodily fluids to bring you the Albini inspired loveliness that is Glasgow's Ex-Wives. More specifically, Alastair from the band inspired us with tales of metallic plectrums, occasional cross-dressing and outrageously underhand tactics at bar football in the 13th Note.

Oh aye, there were a few tunes as well.

Outstanding.

x

Posted at 12:58, 28th November 2009

amazing tunes just for you.......

She Said // 07.11.09

Well it's true the tunes are amazing every week but tonight was no exception. She Said bring you the droney sound of Moon Duo for the first time, some gently melodic noise from the current album by Health, some classic punk rock by the Clash and some chaotic loveliness from Helmet and the Melvins. Oh aye, and despite yer worst fears, a truly memorable example of children singing beautifully courtesy of Yo La Tengo.

Go on, you know you want to.....

x

Posted at 16:26, 13th November 2009

She Said // 31.10.09

it's an atp saturday - off air at least!!

She Said // 24.10.09

So as well as the show going out an hour earlier, She Said had a shorter programme this evening. This allowed the team the opportunity to interview ATP guru Barry Hogan at the ABC in Glasgow ahead of tonight's showing of the ATP film and Les Savy Fav gig which of course we enjoyed to the full! Tune in next week to hear the interview and some of Barry's favourite tunes.

Meantime, tune in tonight for some sounds of the usual high standard.

She Said // 17.10.09

So after a rollercoaster start to the new season with guests galore from the Glasgow underground and beyond, tonight it was a less frantic affair. Join Derek and Allan as they relax, loosen their ties and quite frankly bring you some of the best shouty, punky, noisy loveliness there is with of course just a smidgeon or two of gentle mellowness.

It's like a pleasingly warm bath with loads of aromatic bubbles. Allow us to shift over, there's plenty room here for everybody......

On tonight's show, the She Said team were delighted to bring you an exclusive interview with mighty noise merchants Part Chimp recorded just before their outrageously impressive show in Stereo the previous evening. And of course we played tracks from their new and seriously loud album 'Thriller' not to mention a wee classic oldie as well.

This week we welcomed former Kilmarnock, Motherwell, Everton, Chelsea and Scotland winger Mr Pat Nevin on to the show. the glorious return of rock action heros errors

She Said // 07.03.09

Fresh from gallivanting around Europe with Mogwai and shortly before taking off on their travels once more, Rock Action living legends Errors returned to their favourite radio show. As ever, they brought some cheerful tunes, indulged in some dodgy patter and shared one or two rock and roll adventures from their recent travels.

Here's what some folks had to say about their last appearance in November:

"Frankly, Errors make Barry Burns sound like an amateur musician, I must have them support us in Europe, I'm going to make it happen" - an apparently drunk Stuart Braithwaite from Mogwai.

"Jings, I never realised Greg was American, thanks She Said" - Simon from Errors speaking from his sick bed.

"Being so close to Errors was a truly arousing experience, I may never chat to a girl again" - Derek, She Said presenter.

Tune into She Said on Saturdays from 6-7pm.

So, usually when Derek's left to his own devices, he dances round the studio naked, rejoicing in his own company. However, bereft and inconsolable with Allan off to the mountains, desperation drives him to invite local noisy reprobates United Fruit into the studio for a bit of music and chat. And would you believe, they turn out to be lovely people with damn fine taste.
