The Saturday Shakedown // news
help save norton records special!
On this week's show we have visitors Colin and Bryan (aka DJ Tigermask) in to talk about Glasgow's benefit night for Norton Records, the legendary NY label which has been putting out awesome rock and roll records since the 1980s and which fell victim to Superstorm Sandy in November, destroying almost all the label’s stock of vinyl and CDs, and much of their own personal collection of rock’n’roll ephemera.
Colin and Bryan will be playing records from the Norton catalogue and talking about the show at Mono on 19 December with sets from some of the greatest RNR bands in town!
Live sets from:
New Piccadillys Los Tentakills The Gus'n'Fin Ukelele Rock'nRoll Trio & Secret Special Guests
And DJ Tigermask
£5.00 entry and all the money going to Norton Records.

In which Jim Spence (aka Beauregarde Brute from The Brutes, Jim Shit from The Jackhammers) comes onto the show and plays a lot of records he has literally and metaphorically been digging in the last couple of months. Expect lots of forgotten punk gems from European backwaters from the 1970s and the odd, long-forgotten/under-rated, mainstream rock and roll classic!

shakedown's back with bryan mcgroovy
After a long hot summer spent digging through the archaeological remains of ancient Macchu Picchu and advising NASA on the most happening places in Mars, Ben and Matt are back with the freshest cuts of rock and roll, for the freshest freshers, desperate to squeeze every ounce of fun and spiritual enlightenment from their overdrawn-over-borrowed-student-loan-company funded, time in Glasgow. Expect borderline acceptable hipster-drugster-guitar ambling, nostalgic re-plays of the finest 90s garage-rock from small-town Washington-state, and over-bearing tributes and unconditional devotion to Mark-Arm, Toody Cole, Ko Melina, plugs for 'no-pressure' shows, bars, DJ nights and local rock and roll discos.
This week. Bryan McGroovy will play records and talk about them.

We even found an Easter song, 'Frying up on Easter Day' by Fireballs of Freedom, surely one of the greatest rock and roll noises to hail from the big sky state of Montana.
