With Holly Calder (60s U.K. v. Canada)
Lady Squalor // 1800-2000 02.05.12
60s u.k. (holly calder) and canada (deena jacobs)
I am so happy to have had Holly Calder of Eyes Wide Open on last night's (newly) 2 hour show, sharing sounds of the sixties, Garage, Psych, Fuzz, Freakbeat, and Power Rock; with her putting forward tunes from the U.K. and me from Canada.
I have yet to listen back to all of it, so the only thing that needs noted thus far from yesterday's show is that I misspeak a few times in my initial block of chat where I use Ontario, the province which Ottawa is in, but don't specify that the less kind words were about Ottawa, until a minute in. I like Ontario, it is my birthplace and where I happily grew up, I just have never gotten into Ottawa aside from the music recorded, but am sure loads of other people would tell you otherwise.
Enjoy the tunes, there are many this time. All the UK stuff is mixed by Holly and all of the Canada sets are done by me, the last bit was back to back.
Cheers, until next time, where David Barbarossa joins me to have fun with 45s. One of which he played me the other day, I described instantly as "if the Dixie Cups had taken ecstasy and were hanging out with all their friends making raging music." That tune by Marsha Hunt, (Oh No Not The) Beast Day, can be heard in this show, with credit where credit is due, in the block before the goodbyes.
