Hey there folks,
Having brought you the contractually obliged (having advertised it so long ago) rain-based show last week, I am now ready to kick off 2010 good-style!
This week's show is a review of the music that was new to me in 2009. That doesn't, of course, actually mean 'new' music. This is Journeys not the NME. So, I will be playing a selection of decades-old tunes that I heard for the first time in 2009. Simples.
It will also act as a taster of sorts for upcoming shows, featuring, as it will, a genre-busting selection of funk, soul, reggae, African, Cuban, electronic, Brazilian, psychedelic, indie and erm... probably loads of other forms of music that I can't even think of just now...
No Spotlight this week, so that I can just cram in as many tunes as possible.
The Weird But Wonderful vote features just about the only two bands whose new releases I paid any sort of attention to in 2009 (and only because I'm already a fan):

1. Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Zero
From the album 'It's Blitz!'. They still f*cking rock! And Karen O is still going all out for the 'arty-kook-punk' vibe.

2. Doves - Push Me On
B-Side to the single 'Kingdom Of Rust', from the album of the same name. One of my favourite live acts ever. Have seen them a few times, the most memorable being the Barrowlands Ballroom here in good old Glasgow toon, just after The Last Broadcast came out. Sweet.
