Everything Gonna Be Alright

everything gonna be alright - 24/10/09 - 12-2 pm
Hey folks,
This week's show is a delve into the Blues.
I'll be playing some Delta Blues, some Chicago Blues, some Piedmont (East Coast) Blues, some Blues-Rock, some Gospel Blues, some British Blues and erm... some other types of Blues that you can find on Wikipedia (like what I just done)...
Expect to hear from the likes of Muddy Waters, Big Bill Broonzy, Cream, Lightnin' Hopkins, Leadbelly, Josh White, Howlin' Wolf, The Yardbirds and many more!
The Spotlight this week is on one of the earliest and certainly one of the most influential and legendary Blues players of all time; Robert Johnson. The story goes that he was advised to go to the crossroads with his guitar, where it was tuned, played and given back to him by Satan himself. In exchange for his mortal soul of course. From then on he could play, write and sing the Blues better than anyone ever had before.
The truth is that not a whole lot is really known about Robert Johnson. What is known is based mainly on recollections from his surviving contemporaries, garnered during interviews that took place during the Blues revival of the 1960s. His recording career lasted just two years: 1936-1937, and he died in 1938 at the age of just 27.
The Weird But Wonderful vote is between a couple of tracks that have nothing to do with the Blues (just to break things up):
