we've sacked the lounge jazz band.

Back in the Thursday swing of things, and we've gone and sacked our jazz lounge band.
Bonanza new feature 'Desert Bands-named-after-Islands Discs' is launched with all the ceremony that the well thought out concept deserves. Anna plays a track that's not quite as good as another track she wanted to play. Elsewhere, two artists want more, and boy do we deliver!!!
- if it was not particularly thought out conversation topics that French Kissing and Jay Reatard were wanting more of (think that it was?!!?).

Also the playlist is exclusively eighties, and is every good as bit as that suggests it might be.

less setback, more metaphor

When life hits you with setbacks, you can either lie there on life's metaphorical Byres Road, with life's metaphorical broken wine bottle by your side, or you can GET UP, aided by life's metaphorical three strangers (one of whom was middle aged..er...in the metaphor) or, better still, by (life's literal) YOURSELF. GODDIT?
Post punk/new wave tracks (like dem good old deadbeat days) plus some newer stuff, the playlist gives you a good indication of what it must be like to be Anna's neighbour. (This effect could be enhanced by listening to the show through a wall, but we wouldn't recommend it.)
