chiptune // jpop // gabba // videogames // noise
ASCII was the first ever videogames based radio show in the UK, broadcasting chiptune and videogame remixes since 2005 from the Subcity studio. Over the last few years artists such as DJ Scotch Egg, Germlin, Ove Naxx and Yoko Oh No! have all come in a done live sessions with explosive results.
Hosted by gamers Tim and Euan with occasional additional players coming join in the talk of videogames past, present and future the music is as varied as the games discussed. Expect a core of chiptune both original and remixed with a healthy amount of gabba, jpop, original soundtracks and intense Mario Kart battles.
news
zombie ascii ate my neighbours
This week ASCII got overrun by a horde of zombies, but nothing could stop Tim, Joe and myself from carrying on with the show. With the recent release of various living dead titles we discuss the past, present and future of zombies in video games an ask the important questions:
Can zombie sharks swim? Is there a more scary zombie than the dogs in Resident Evil?

super ascii world 1-2
ASCII power ups to its full strength this week with the return of Tim and Subcity Sci-fi duo Scott and Ciaran. After last weeks solo affair I'll be welcoming some multiplayer conversational action and another pair of thumbs to work the studio desk.

ascii needs you!
ASCII returns to Subcity on November the 2nd with the classic blend of videogame bleeps, Nintendo talk and live gaming. Bringing back the original format of one hour, Tim and myself are going to condense all the fun from last year into an weekly hour long show.
However, Tim is away attending Mario and Peach's Wedding (I wissnae invited) so I'm looking for some goombas to join me on the show.
Past names who have appeared include Robin Davis, Martin Deutsch, Heather Robertson, Ciaran Owens, Scott Forsyth , Joe Evans and Lewis Ross. Old and new faces are welcome to appear and bring their fond memories of getting a Game Boy for Christmas back in 1993.
Failing this I'll just resort to playing Electroplankton for a hour or do a chiptune set.
If you want to get involved send me a PM on the forum.
ASCII will be broadcast online infront of a live studio audience on Subcity.org at 11-12pm, Novemeber the 2nd 2008.
