Joe Lally (Fugazi) // That's How It Was

Joe Lally by Antonia Tricarico

listen

Since Fugazi (who resisted musics' mainstream outlets through self managed and self release) disbanded, bass player Joe Lally has released a couple of solo albums --which still have the some of the same political chutzpah. He now lives in Italy with his wife and kid, this hasn't held him up making music that communicates his 'problem with the whole fucking set-up!'.

In a rare interview, Joe talked about the final days of punk rock radio in DC, The Cramps gig when guitarist/vocalists Ian MacKaye and Guy Picciotto met, some of the rumours (read: facts) about big bald Berlusconi.

For Joe, punk changed it all, saved him from tedium and a life in the suburbs, he could have worked for NASA FFS.
