Press Release

Only a month after packing out the Vic Bar with the house party vibe of Subcity's HiFi, Glasgow's finest return to the Art School to bring you two floors of sports-entertainment inspired mayhem. Subcity's Battle Royale will see over 20 DJs slog it out over 2 rooms, 8 decks and 10 rounds. Who's arm will be raised as the undisputed champion?

Subcity's management have punched above their weight to bring you an electrifying card, featuring a mix of Subcity superstars and enthusiastic rookies. The stipulations are set and the titles are on the line.
You will see DJ's battling for supremacy, letting their fingers do the talking while the crowd are asked to vote with their feet. Dancing in the red or blue corners will allow you, the audience, to select your champions. Belts will change hands depending on who rocks the crowd on the night.

Top of the card is the Royal Rumble which will see 30 DJs and 30 tunes in as many minutes. A new DJ enters the ring on the referee's bell. Last man standing wins a shot at the title at Wrestlemainia, or perhaps just a longer slot at the next event. Meanwhile downstairs the newly created Breakcore championship will also be decided, with a no holds barred gabba-breakcore-chiptune cage match with Glasgow's top noise makers NASA, Fisting for Compliments and Whoa-Gan! fighting it out to the death.

Before the night ends in this bloodbath sound-clash there's some more family friendly entertainment lined up including Mixed Bizness veterans Rab's Boutique using all the decks they can find in a face off against long time rivals Full Homeopathic Orchestra. The Tag Team Belts are on the line. Expect an unprecedented 4-way thriller as these legends throw down the funk, and try not to throw in the towel. Meanwhile downstairs, Olympic gold medal winner Full Phat meets the people's champion Ali Heron in a barbed wire brawl to settle their long-running feud once and for all. Fight-night will see these two looking to get the 1,2,3 on their opponent using the heaviest 4 to the floor beats around.

Earlier highlighting the mic-work of the more cerebral assassins of Subcity, is the MC Battle with Nafees meeting Aeroplane Dope and an unkown third contender in a triple threat match. Who will deliver the knockout blow and earn the victory? Subcity hip-hop connoisseur Nuff Stylee will have to try to remain impartial as he supplies the beats, but in the end, you will decide...

Giving you a break from the violence and giving you a chance to rest your giant foam hand, the Live Half-Time-Show from two of Glasgow's most exciting live acts - Tiny Little Hearts, and an soon to be announced mystery guest. They're not scheduled to fight anyone, but we don't advise spilling their pint. Also look out for other Subcity favourites climbing in the ring Vegas, Rock Island Line, Frantic Ant, Kid Twist and PsychedelicSoup.

The whole shemozzle will be broadcast live on www.subcity.org with colour commentary from Subcity shows Solar Island and The Bottom Line, who would be meeting in the ring if it wasn't for their dodgy knees.

Expect blood, sweat and tears. It's going to be a Slobberknocker!

Ringside seats £5 in advance from SRC & Vic Bar / £7 on the door.
10pm-3am

That looks amazing!

But are you telling me we are having to look at Tim and Monoliths ugly mugs on posters all over town?

a 'revised' version of the guardian advert of the poster is currently stuck up in the 3rd year electronics lab,

would it be cheeky to do some parody election posters to stick up around campus before the unions annual elections next week? hmm..
