Commander Keen – Extended Player II

Beautifully produced, ambient music mixing folk and electronica from this Scottish group. The involvement of cello player Stacey Seivright (The Moth & The Mirror/Arab Strap/The Reindeer Section) should get people excited, and her talents haven’t gone to waste: the strings in general sound gorgeous. Post-rock is such an overarching term; these lot are in Godspeed / Brian Eno-type territory rather than the heavier sounds produced by the likes of Mogwai which one might associate with the term ‘Scottish post-rock’. Highly recommended.
